Newbie....Thanks and a question

Thanks guys for helping me get my '87 LS on the road. Searches here and at Coolcats have been invaluable. My repair shop friend just gave me a whole '93 XR7, and I'm just wondering what parts I should hold on to for the '87. I know the transmission will work, that's the reason I took the car. I am new to Fords in general, and don't want to be kicking myself later for letting something go that I need.

                            Thanks Again
                                  Bill

PIC's when the sun comes out. By the way, I love Oklahoma. It's the day before Christmas, and I was able to hand wash two cars in my driveway this AM. Won't be like that all winter, but enough nice days to keep things bearable.

What's even more unbeleivable is that I'm in eastern Canada and it was 50 degrees and sunny today (and is supposed to be tomorrow, too). Considering that when I left the house this morning it was snowing like a  and 3" of fresh stuff was down, it was a rapid improvement...

Back on topic: Welcome to the boards. To answer your questions: Very little, aside from the engine and tranny, are interchangeable between MN12 and fox cars. Even the tranny is not a direct swap unless you have a floor shifter in your LS. If you've got the column shifter the shift lever has to be turned 180 degrees, something that must be done inside the tranny.

That's just the kind of thing I need pointed out to me. The trans will go frome one car to the other by way of my friend the rebuilder, just to be checked out and have new seals installed. I imagine no prob  for him to flip the lever at that time, but if I had failed to mention where the trans was headed and he failed to ask, I would have ended up some Saturday PM trying to learn how on my own. Thanks!!
