no reverse light (new question!)

i have never had reverse lights since i bought the car some months ago. i recently found that the harness from trans for reverse was missing. so i got a replacement today (thanks herb) and nothing... still no reverse. does anyone have a schematic of the reverse light wiring? yes i need a chilton, i know. i surely would appreciate it or any tips of chasing down this nuissance. thanks.

I'll check when I get home - I'm on dialup right now and uploading large files is a no-go ;)

OK, I checked Mitchell, and the diagrams suck. They do not show the simple "backup lights" circuit, they show entire sections of the car, such as "fuse block and underdash", "passenger compartment", etc. They are a jumbled mess, in other words. I do know from experience, though, that the backup light wire is black with a pink stripe. The power wire into the backup light switch is purple with an orange stripe. You should have power at that wire with the key in "RUN" and at the Black/Pink wire with the key in "RUN" and the tranny in reverse.
