Injector woes?? December 01, 2005, 04:32:48 PM Ok my car has been acting a bit strange lately. If I start the car after its been sitting all night it will fire right up and idle like a new car. Well If I drive it then let it sit for a short time, say 15 minutes when I start it again it will bounce around like its running on 4 or 5 cylinders. It only does it for a couple of seconds before it smoothes out but it never gets perfect. At lights it runs rough. I'm convinced this is an injector problem. When I shut my car off it smells like gas. I havn't pulled the plugs yet to read them but it has to be running rich. yet I got 26 MPG on the trip from ohio to florida! Its kinda getting worse and not fixing itself so I'm asking you guys! Quote Selected
Injector woes?? Reply #1 – December 01, 2005, 08:05:23 PM I would check the o-rings on the injectors. I had a similar problem and that fixed it right up. Quote Selected
Injector woes?? Reply #2 – December 01, 2005, 10:52:53 PM Ok guys, will the injectors out of say a 96 or 97 bird with a v6 work in my 88? Quote Selected
Injector woes?? Reply #3 – December 07, 2005, 10:55:33 PM Mines TBI 5.0, so i don't know about your six banger injectors. So I thought i'd suggest checking the control module. The only grounds for that suggestion is my belief that they act up when they're warm. Maybe it's not controling the ignition like it should. And plus it's a real easy test at a nearby Autozone.... GET IN THE ZONE! AUTOZONE! :hick: Quote Selected
Injector woes?? Reply #4 – December 08, 2005, 08:10:37 AM The newer style injectors have different pigtail connectors so you would need a harness adapter for them to work. I believe they are different flow rates as well...... Quote Selected
Injector woes?? Reply #5 – December 08, 2005, 11:48:44 AM hell, any gray top injectors will work. SO 5.0, 3.8L, all those Quote Selected
Injector woes?? Reply #6 – December 16, 2005, 09:42:14 PM Before you spend a bunch of cash on parts, try cleaning your throttle blade & IAC passage, and run a jug of injector cleaner (I like Berryman's) through the gas tank. Quote Selected
