Started my car

Just went down and started my car again for the first time in 6 months, it's been sitting in a friend's yard while I was away in Australia. Put in some more fuel, some Lucas fuel cleaner as well as half a can of sea foam. The choke on the carb is bad, so I had to pump the pedal a little to give it gas, but it started on the third try.

After it warmed up a little a pegged it a few times, blew some blue smoke at first and then black smoke, which I suppose is normal from not having run for so long. Asked the guy to start it a couple more times before I come back again in January. Can't wait to finally start driving it again !

Suspension's shot, it wallows like a boat, does anybody know what brand would be best value-wise for springs/shocks for an '85 Tbird 5.0 ?

turbo coupe swaybars, 88 sport stock springs, or rear moog cargo coils, and monroe shocks and struts, lifetime warranty. think thats the best bang for the buck if your not gonna go nuts on the street with it, but it will still handel ALOT better than the stock suspension you have now.

thanks, I will go with your suggestion. I've also seen some Gabriel ones, but I've heard that the quality is not too hot - is that true ?

I do not know about you drivers who actually race your cars, but stock - if in new condition, is not bad is it?  I can slide mine around a corner, sort of, considering I have so little skill (spoken as one who lives within site of Lowes Motor Speedway) and guys I know who really race do not seem so concerned with hopping up stock suspension unless real racetrack conditions are expected.  Therefore, I think that along with the struts (and springs??) you would be very happy if you also replaced all bushings (A-ARM, Sway-bar, Steering box, xmission mount, and rear suspension bushings.  I replaced the A-arm bushings and the sway bar bushings and the difference was dramatic! The car will handle like new.
