I saw that, too.  Heck, I'd be impressed if it only had 50,000 on it.  There may be SOME possibility, though, considering when it was donated.  Maybe they meant 50,000.  Boy, 50 actual miles would be like finding it in a time capsule, it wouldn't even be broken in yet.  We'll see.

we had a bran new 5.0 5 speed LX notch think  it was a 89, had just over 200 miles on it. teacher loved that car lol, he didnt let it rot tho, took care of it.

now that i think of it, that car is probley f'd... we had cars that had projects, or bugs in em for diag. that we forgot about the bug and started to have problems, my teacher was good about keeping everything in tip top shape, but the younger guy that tought the other class wasnt... so their were quite a few left over bugs in some of the cars from him, that may be the case with that car. what he thinks is a bad fuel pump or battery could be a complete lack of everything or random  pins dissconnected, plugs cut, or missing. it looks in pretty sorry shape for everything being bran new.

On the first one i would never touch something that has been in a HS auto shop, as the cars that we had in ours were so screwed it wasent even funny, and the second i would never pay 7 g's for a cougar with a turbo 4 but thats just my opinion.

We had some new cars at our trade school (I mentioned 'em in another thread - an '83 Chevy C10, an '86 Buick Riviera and a '93 Tempo GLS 2-door, 5-speed V6. All were brand new with under 50 miles (the '83 CHevy had 37 km, all from driving in and out of the shop) and none had ever been exposed to the elements - part of the agreement between the schools and the manufacturers donating the cars was that the cars had to be kept inside overnight. Another part of the agreement, and a big part, was that the cars were never to be sold in whole or in part. Our school closed forever at the end of that year and all three were fed into a shredder.

I mention this because I'm surprised that donated Cougar is even allowed to be sold. It's probably violating an agreement with Ford, and it might be impossible to license.

You are probably correct on the original agreement violation... But to the the best of my knowledge, when a munility sells vehicles such as this, abandoned, etc. it will provide a bill of sale to which the DMV will gladly issue you a title...

That red XR-7 is just gorgeous. If I had the money, I'd probably try to jump on it. Even though it's a bit much, there just aren't too many in that condition.

As far as the school junker, run away from it like the plague. The only good it would be IMO is a racecar stripped down of everything. I don't think I'd give them 100 for it whether the odometer says 50 miles or 500,000 miles.

Ya know, upon looking at that school Cougar again it almost looks like it may have been flooded. Look at the engine pic, how muddy everything looks. It doesn't look like rust, it looks like mud - especially considering the alternator is brown

I don't think so... Looks like it has just set for years under a tree or some bushes. I've had a couple of "setters" and they had similar issues..

I'd take a clean 125,000 mile Cougar over this supposed 50-mile rusty one any day. Something's fishy about it. Why does it look like it's been through a war? No thanks, pass on that one.
