QA1 Tubular K Member November 21, 2004, 09:50:42 PM So, I want to get this QA1 Tubular K-Member for my 88 Thunderbird, and I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with this piece, and what they think of it. I can't think of any reason why this wouldn't work for a Thunderbird, but I figured i'd check first. Thanks Quote Selected

Re: QA1 Tubular K Member Reply #3 – November 24, 2004, 11:48:32 AM I have a Maximum Motorsports K on by Turbocoupe, had to shim the four main chassis bolts. There seems to be a slight difference ibetween the Mustang and the TBird chassisin this area. Quote Selected

Re: QA1 Tubular K Member Reply #6 – November 24, 2004, 07:27:10 PM *should*.. but when do things ever work like they *should*?Until that Murphy guy crams his law up his arse, anyway. Quote Selected
Re: QA1 Tubular K Member Reply #7 – November 24, 2004, 07:38:09 PM Well,,, all the k members are made to fit a mustang so they all SHOULD have the same design... But I guess it depends on what year mustang they fitted it too.I had a problem with the maximum motorsports k member on my 87 cougar, all the bolt holes lined up perfectly but I needed a 3/4 inch spacer to make it fit. Now...Johns331 only had to shim the bolt holes to get the same k member to work on his TC. Quote Selected
Re: QA1 Tubular K Member Reply #8 – November 24, 2004, 07:52:16 PM OK, that just sorta proved my point.. :D but what I'm more concerned with is differences in quality, etc. QA1 is the one I see every time I'm browsing the Summit catalog.. (good bathroom reading.. lol) so that's the one I'm most interested in reading more about, in that department. Quote Selected

Some of the differences between the Mustang and various years of the TBird/Cougar has to do with how much anti dive is designed into the front suspension, and what K member was originally installed. I'm almost positive I took out some of the anti dive when I installed the MM K member, as the suspension is much more complaint in braking. (high anti dive percentages tend to lock up the front suspension under heavy braking) Quote Selected
Re: QA1 Tubular K Member Reply #10 – December 20, 2004, 04:18:51 AM I plan on installing a tubular k-member on my 84. The 3/4" spacer you are talking about is that between the k-member and the frame? Also I plan on using the tubular A-arms and coil over shocks hopefully the mustang ones work Quote Selected
