BOV BPV installation?

Anyone ever install one of these on their T/C?  And if so, how easy was it, where is the best place, what mods need to be done, and pics if you have any.

i have one on my TC

i use a Bosch bypass valve, and the way we did it was drill and tap the proper fitting into the intercooler, and then added a section of metal pipe, with the proper fitting drilled and tapped in, and plumbed it in

i think tinyavenger or forced4 sells a full kit
It's Gumby's fault.

Ok, do you happen to have any pics of it? How does it sound too?

Does anybody else have a blow off valve?  I need pics or ideas on where to mount it.

its relatively quiet

with these cars, you dont want a BOV, you vent metered air, which is bad for drivability

Yea, I read somewhere that bov's tend to make cars with mass air stall out.  Another site said if you adjust them properly then this can be eliminated though, so they claimed that it is possible to use a bov on a vehicle w/ mass air. Thanks for the pics, I plan on mounting it the same way as your setup. It seems like the most convient spot for it.

the problem is, most BOV's are also open when youre engine is under vacume, which is allowing it to suck air. If you adjust the BOV to stay closed under vacume, then its very hard for it to open when you need it to vent the air. There are some that work, but when you blow off the metered air, the car will have a tendancy to stumble after every shift, because it will run rich for an instant
It's Gumby's fault.

Does it stumble when you're driving normally, (under low boost) or when you driving aggressivly(10-15psi)?

when you make enough boost to open it

i havnt had a single drivability problem with the bypass valve
It's Gumby's fault.

Ok, I ordered a bov, but if I have too many problems with it, i'll sell it, (or keep it) and get one that has the bpv option.  Thanks for the info.

I put a BOV on mine, it ran pretty good but kept stalling out when I pushed in the clutch. I suspected the BOV was leaking vacuum, so I converted to blow-through VAM and that cured it. I have a Forge blowoff valve and I could have exchanged it for a new one for free (they have a lifetime warranty) but I was trying to get the car on the road at the time.

Oh and by the way- my blowoff valve is loud as hell.

Where can I find a blow through VAM setup?

You're not going to "find" one.  You'll have to put it together yourself.

In short, you install the VAM after the turbo (and usually after the IC).  You need to make sure they are sealed up and some guys have to resort to bands  or clamps to keep the tops on these things as they really aren't sealed well enough to be used under boost, but folks do it anyway.  Also, it will require some adjusting of the VAM spring inside the unit itself (to tighten the spring a bit) to allow it to read more accurately in it's new location.  It's a bit of trial and error.  Also, in in a blow-through application, the small VAM works better with the big VAM ECUs.  The big VAM doesn't play nice (or as nice) as a blow-through.

Just install a BPV and be done with it.

Ok, looking at the space I have to work with, the option of relocating the VAM seems to be more work than its worth, especially since I'm keeping the intercooler where it is for now.  But when I do get around to re-routing the piping and front mounting an intercooler, I just put the vam in front of the throttle body after the intercooler like this:

That's how I have mine. Honestly, I set mine up for blow through and it was actually pretty easy. The hardest part was getting the VAM into the intercooler pipes. I hooked it up, drove the car for a bit, adjusted the VAM spring once, and haven't messed with it since. It seems to have some hiccups when the throttle is just barely cracked, but other than that it's good.

I've heard some people convert to blow-through with almost no problems, and others have all kinds of problems. I dunno.
