Help finding door lock wires in 86 TC

well what im doing is installing a remote start/ keyless entry. I spent 3 years as an installer so im no dummy to this stuff. I just can't seem to find the wiring im looking for. In the driver kickpanel i found the Pink/yellow and pink/green but they read 12v all the time. same as the pass side. the tech sheet i have for the car says driver kick panel but no luck. Im hoping someone has installed something on an 86 so they know what im missing. thanks

When you say they're showing 12V all the time do you mean with a volt meter or with a test light? If you used a volt meter you're getting 12 volts, but it's coming through the coils of the lock/unlock relay. Try it with a test light. These cars use a ground-switched power lock system, so if you probe those wires with a test light (not an LED test light, but a normal one) you should actually activate the locks

well the way i learned to do the infamous ford "5 wire" is find the door lock wires and cut them. when using the multimeter i get 12v on one side of the set and nothing on the other. nothing happens to them when i hit lock unlock. normally when you hit lock/unlock one wire will show 12v while the other shows ground and they flip with lock/unlock. am i just retarded or does this all make sense

BTW this car does not have factory keyless

You are correct in what you are saying... Holding the switch in the lock position grounds the PK/Y wire acttivating the relay. Doing the same with unlock grounds the PK/G wire and operates the unlock relay. This is why one wire will read 12v and the other ground or both read 12v when the switch is not in operation. IF grounding these wires does not operate the lock/unlock you have other problems(locks are operating normally otherwise?). You can trigger the relays with a regular 12v test lamp(must be incandesant) as T Chicken said. I used this trick today to trigger on the cooling fan in a TC. Its fast, easy and will not harm the circuit(stay away from the computer and electronic curcuits with this method though). Bright light your on the 12v feed side, dim light(or none) and operaiting relay means you are on the trigger side.

The wires will have to be in the kickpanels for both sides, as they feed into the doors on the the switch(assuming your switches are in the door panel). The relays are under the passenger seat so you could also pickup the wires there.

When I wired in the Taurus keyless remote module into my '88, I found the wires in the passenger side kickpanel.

so are you saying that i can just trigger the wires with negative trigger? I thought you had to wire in 2 relays for the "5 wire". I had this whole thing wired up like i did for my stang and other fords but it does nothing. thanks

Negative trigger... humm new one on me, but I understand what you mean.. Yes all that is nesessary to trigger the relays is ground the wires already mentioned. If your remote system uses some other method, then good luck...

When I installed the remote keyless system into my T-Bird I had to use a pair of relays to flip the polarity. The remote system sends a positive signal out, and I had to use relays to convert that positive signal to a negative signal.

Here's a diagram for the factory keyless system in your car to help you out:

well negative trigger is a term we used at our shop. but im sure you got the idea.

As far as the alarm goes it sends a low current negative trigger to the door locks. If that is all it needs then i didn't have to add the relays like i did. I assumed it was like my stangs. but thanks for all your help guys. The diagram helped a ton. where do you get them??
