Steering column Reply #3 – November 03, 2005, 03:54:47 PM It's not terribly difficult to do. You need basic hand tools and steering wheel puller. In a nutshell:- Put the car in park, shut it off, remove the key, disconnect battery.- Remove the steering wheel and collar pieces.- Disconnect the wiring harnesses on the column.- Pop out the rod for the column shifter.- Remove the nut in the engine bay on the column, by the firewall.- Remove the 4 main bolts under the dash that hold the column to the support.- Out it comes.Installation is the reverse. Do you plan on swapping over your ignition lock cylinder so you can keep the same key? Or does it not matter? On an '84 you can get away with using a different one since the square key only works the ignition anyway. Quote Selected
