Brake pads.

Just curious to know if anyone here has used Satisfied Pro brand brake pads on their Bird or Cougar. If so what is your opinion of them? I'm gonna need to replace my front pads shortly, and these "seem" like a decent option.

I was just looking over coolcats.net again and noticed a mention of Performance Friction brand pads being pretty good for our cars. I think i'll just go pick up a set of those and be done with it.

LOL! Nothing like answering your own question. ;)

Regular Performance Frictions are good for the street. The Z's are expensive though, and I doubt you'd ever see a major benefit from them on a normal street car. Those are more made for the track.

BTW, I'm running NAPA Ceramix pads on the convertible...wow. Amazing pads. But they're not available for all cars. And they're expensive...like, the fronts were $142 US with tax, and that was 3 years ago. But if you can get a ceramic pad for the 10" or 11" brakes, go for them. They're about the best you can get, and virtually no brake dust or noise.

Everything i've seen or read as of recent states that you shouldn't buy the ceramics for a stock setup. Plus i've not found anyone who makes ceramics for the stock application. I just got back from my parts run of sorts, and picked up a set of the Performance Friction brand (non-Z) from Vato-zone. I was gonna buy them from Advance Auto, but apparently they can't "order performance items from their website, even with a part #". Didn't matter anyway, I got the guy at Vato-zone to price match and take an extra buck off :D .

So I got the pads installed last night, how long untill the funny whirring sound stops when i'm braking from 25mph and up? I presume this is only happening due to them being new? Been a while since I put the last set on and I forget the sound the old new ones made.

Yeah, they're just breaking in...the noise will go away in a little while. Cool, good to hear you got a deal too.

Good, that's what I was figuring but wasn't sure. I didn't replace the rotors out of the fact they were perfectly fine and thick enough, so I was kinda thinking that had something to do with it.  Like I mentioned, it's been about a year and a half since the last brake replacement (and that was a nearly complete overhaul on the front end from the hoses down) so i've kinda forgotten the sound. At least I was able to get the job done in about 20 minutes :D !
