SUV bumper leaves a mark on my t-bird.

A SUV bumper glanced off my t-bird's rear quarter panel and left a long black plastic mark on it.  Its seems to have become one with the fender.  Any ideas on how to get it off while leaving the paint intact?

Thanks

Try using a mild polishing compound on it. Start out as mild as possible, then step up the compound level as required. Use a small circular motion when polishing, but don't press hard; let the compund do the work.

Believe it or not, I've used Bug and Tar remover for some of these things. Of the different Bug and Tar removers I've used the one that seems to work really well is the one by Turtle Wax. It's in a black spray bottle with a green label. Just spray it on and rub the  out of the area with a soft rag. It should dry to a haze and then buff.
It's worth a shot and you can never have too much Bug and Tar remover around.:)
