Just to let everyone else know also. I just tried to book a room at Red Roof and they are booked up, no rooms available for CJ weekend. This kinda sucks, I stayed elsewhere last year and kinda wanted to stay at Red Roof this year. Guess I shoulda booked earlier, huh?

Heh. How bout since December of 05? 50 bux a night! Woot!

I just looked up where Findlay was, and you are about two hours west of me. I was planning on working Friday till 5, but if you are planning on being in the Akron area about noon, I may just work a half day and meet up with you.  I am planning on driving back and forth Fri. and Sat. seeing as its only about an hour drive for me.

That'd be cool, I can plan on being in that area then, I haven't seen anyone from West or North of me being interested, so it shouldn't be a problem to be in Akron around noon (barring unforeseen cirspoogestances).

Hotels

Ok, I've done some more checking on hotels;
Except for Microtel, all the hotels in the immediate area of RRI are booked (note: this is for Friday check-in and Sunday check-out, if you're only staying Friday night, might be different). I stayed at Microtel last year, not again.
The closest one I found was a Days Inn that is almost exactly 3.5 miles away, but along two straight-shot roads (McClurg Rd(>east) & South Ave(^north)) to get to RRI.
The rooms are $60/night (1 double bed) or $85/night (2 doubles), but if you want to take the risk, they have a special rate of $51/night (1 double) or $72.25 (2 doubles), but it's prepaid, and you can't cancel or modify it. I pretty sure this is where I'll be staying.

I think in '04, I stayed in a Fairfield Inn. It was something like 5-10 miles away or something. Not too bad and the hotel was nice. I might end up booking there again.

If I don't have the cat back together, I might drive my Fairlane. Iff'n I can get the 42 year old beast tagged and whatnot. She's a lot closer to running condition than the cat so I'll probably get her going first.

If the room is the same size as last year I'm sure we can shove the TV in the corner and move some stuff around then fit I'm guessing 4 people on the floor....

Here is the thing though.....  Whoever is on the floor buy's the beer....  :tg:

hey, this is our first CJ, so I was just wondering... has there been a designated photo op area? I was thinking how cool it would be if someone staked out an area (kinda like the Kodak picture spots at Disney) that would be a great photo-op area for individual pix of our cats/birds. Maybe even two, one that would be simple & classy, the other could be fun & festive with maybe a CatJam 06 sign for members to pose with their rides?

(sorry to be so girly about it, but I would love to get some great pix of my cat)

Well, for one, it's not called MICROtel for nothing! LOL
But last year the room they gave us had a about 20 colonies of ants prancing around in the window seat and down to the floor. We complained and got an "upgraded" room.....that means the room we got looked EXACTLY the same except that it had one of those really small apartment fridges in it.
So, yeah, I won't be going back there, even though it's really close to RRI.

This isn't that bad of an idea. But I think the best bet for this spot would be at the park.

I'll camp out on the floor.
Hell, I'm 6' 3" and I've slept in a Cougar more times than I can count. I'm not very picky...
