finally took the bird to the track

im almost embarresed with posting results, but screw it. i wasnt expecting anything good.

best 60' on 26x11.50/15 @ 12psi was 2.35
best 1/4 mile was 17.24 @ 77

car bogged really bad with those tires. my car is stock, sides an HO intake, and 19# injectors on a 130,000 mile 302. nest time i go to the track ill have an electric fan, 3g alternator, longtubes, t5, and bullet lers. ;)

well i did a little weight reduction this week. i pulled the front bumper, supports, front swaybar, spare tire, pass. seat, air silencer, and put the stock airbox back on. i did add a taurus electric fan today, too. the 1st pass was a 16.6 @ 81. 2nd one, was a 16.5 @ 81.45mph, on street tires. i didnt really feel them spin either.

the aod is still slipping just a tad on the 3-4 shift. im gonna do a tranny flush, swap my eec to an A9P(already have the mass air meter), and find some 4 cyl mustang 3.45 gears. that should get me in the low 15's/high 14's. LOL!

i was gonna put on my exhaust, but the car wouldnt pass inspection, due to the high beams not staying on. :bs: they were working fine on the way to the track though. i wanted to wait on swapping exhaust, till after i could get it inspected. oh well, there's always next week.:D

still running the factory speed density cam, and computer. i thought about buying/borrowing a timing light, to see what it's set at, but couldnt get one in time. ill put some 93 in the tank, and try bumping the timing up quite a bit.

i have a couple of friends "donating" parts, to get me a little quicker. one has a set of stock mustang trw forged pistons. another has a set of home ported E7's. and another has some stock trickflow vavle springs, that have never been used. :D i picked up an "E" cam the other night for $50  , also. i was gonna wait  till i converted to mass-air, before putting it in.

i should have a pretty quick t-bird, within the next couple of months.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

Good luck with it man, you should pick up noticably with those parts.  What altitude was the track you were running at and what temps?  My 'bird went 16.45's when it was still bone stock, the temps were in the low 70's and the DA was around 4ft above sea level.

took it out to the track, the day i got it in(thurs), and clicked off a 14.8 @ 92mph. i had ran it with the mass air and AOD before, but only got a 16.5. i was on street tires both times at the track.

after christmas, ill get an 8.8", slicks, and some 3.55's or 3.73's. ill post back with more results. havent fogotten about youse guys!

yes, and a 2.234 60'. with just slicks, i should be able to get a 13.9 out of it, the way it sits. that's if my stock axles will survive some 4,000rpm launches. ;)

Well I'd say thats a bit optimistic... With maybe a 1.85-1.95 60ft, I'd think more like a 14.1-14.2...

Interesting to see it runs as well as it does on the SO cam... Prolly pick up a good bit with some 1.7 roller rockers...
