possible switch check to make sure you are getting power in and out of them

do both seats require both switches to work....? what i mean is, if one switch is junk does that mean both seats will stop working or just one? my power locks and keyless still work so its deffinetly not the fuseable link or the breaker. both seats worked fine and for some reason they both stopped working. because its both i doubt its a motor or one the stitches unless they both need to be working in order for both seats to work. im headed out to check for power at the switches and then the ground...

pull your console plate out and probe the Black wire (ground) and Black wire with the white stripe (hot).  they should be hot all the time no matter what position the key is.  And to anyone who has never tried, we can move our seats even when the key is out of the ignition.  Underneith of the carpet on the driver's side is the connector for the seat harness to plug into.  I'm not sure how much further up the ground for it is but it can't be too far.

So what to try.  Probe the two wires at the switch to see if they are hot.  If not, try probing from a known good ground to the black and white wire.  If nothing there probe from a known hot tot the black wire.  If nothing there you will have to pull up the carpet and repeat at the connector there.

I'm betting that your going to find that you have no ground but you have power.  If thats the case, You could just run your own ground under the carpet to the floor pan.  No one would see it.
