question... about new board setup REP POWER Reply #2 – October 15, 2005, 12:08:17 AM You need a new computer :DThe reputation power thing is an option I saw in the admin control panel and turned it on. Don't know what it does, but I've seen it on other boards so it must be good, right?Apparently you can give users reputation points based on their posts. If you have an opinion on a user's post, click on the scale icon above your location, post count, etc and leave a positive or negative.I'ma gonna change the title of your topic so others will see the rep power thing. Then I'm gonna sit back and watch the games once people start using it :DMine is 10 because I'm an administrator, and that's where administrators start. Eric's should be the same number. You also get rep points as your post count goes up, but not many - something like one point for every 1000 posts, that's why some have a rep of 2 or 3 already Quote Selected
question... about new board setup REP POWER Reply #3 – October 15, 2005, 12:12:11 AM Try hitting "Go advanced" under the post box. When you do so it brings up a larger menu above the post box as well as other options. Click on the paper clip icon and you SHOULD be able to post a pic. It shows the maximum sizes for the type of file you can add as well. Quote Selected

question... about new board setup REP POWER Reply #6 – October 15, 2005, 06:28:06 PM I just made some tweaks to the rep power system. You now get one point for every 100 posts, in addition to any points other users give you. That's why a lot of your rep points have gone up within the past few minutes. Now to figure out why changes I make to the system don't seem to affect Administrators... Quote Selected
question... about new board setup REP POWER Reply #7 – October 15, 2005, 06:33:51 PM I should cherish this moment.. 'cause I have a higher rep than Carmen as of the time of this post. :p Quote Selected
question... about new board setup REP POWER Reply #8 – October 15, 2005, 06:37:46 PM With one click I could take that away :DBut I won't. I'll let you guys fight over that stuff among yourselves. The strange thinig is that even though I have 3200 posts and started out with 10 points, when I made the change in the control panel to give a point for every 100 posts it affected everyone but Eric and I. And yet, if I click on my own scale it shows that I have 42 points (which is about right - the 10 I started with plus 32 points for 3200 posts). And still, I have no idea what reputation points are good for anyway, except for stroking one's ego... question... about new board setup REP POWER Reply #9 – October 15, 2005, 06:47:31 PM It's about as useful as the star voting system for threads.. which means, not very. Especially around here. Some boards have more threads starred than not, and some boards seem obsessed with user ratings.. but this place hardly uses that stuff. I kinda like it that way.. and not just because I'm an obnoxious asshole. :p Quote Selected

question... about new board setup REP POWER Reply #13 – October 16, 2005, 12:38:58 PM found it i think...QuoteThe User Reputation system allows your board members to leave comments about one anothers' posts, and thereby contribute to their overall 'reputation'.Using the User Reputation manager, you can create titles for a variety of reputation levels, so that users are given a reputation title when they reach a certain reputation level.
