That would suck if Lincoln got a Mustang based coupe before or instead of Mercury.

That's why I posted this, Jim! :) From a real-world POV it makes much more sense for Mercury to have a coupe before Lincoln.

Also keep in mind that we're but a few months away from the Detroit Auto Show. Hidden within that article is more subtext...will we see a Mustang-based prototype at that show? Did Ford already give the go-ahead to Lincoln and not Mercury? Or are both on hold? We'll know something in the next few months, anyway.

Well ford always thinks of its self frist.
Rember way back when they were going to bring back the Cougar.
What did we get, Ford Merc style of a cavalier.

Just remember, the Mark VII, even though it came out in '84, was actually designed before the 83 T-Bird and Cougar...

Unless Mercury really is on its way out.

Assuming I could afford either, I wouldn't mind either car.. a Stang-based Merc or Lincoln, that is. Would probably take the Lincoln in a money-is-no-object hypothetical situation, though.

Remember the song goes "Hot rod Lincoln" not Mercury.
Considering that Lincoln became part of the Ford family before Mercury I say Lincoln has dibs.
