I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

why wouldnt the mac ram air kit work? im sure it would with a little modification if any. the only thing is...not to be a  but why. generally speaking they dont do all that much. you have to be realy moving to gain anything. not much help at the track anyway.

im sure you could make one pretty easy enough?

I have the kit that Paul posted the link for on my 5.0 Bird. Fits good but I had to make two modifications to fit it though. First I had to remove the air  under the front bumper to fit the scoop on (you have a grill so cooling shouldn't be a problem). The second thing I had to do was drill some new holes in the scoop because the predrilled holes don't line up to the bottom of the bumper. Now for a seat of the pants change in performance? I don't notice a difference at lower speeds but I do notice a difference if I'm going over 45 mph and hit the gas to pass. At higher speeds when air is being forced into the intake (mabey 1-2 psi if it's lucky) the car seems to pass easier. Or mabey it's my imagination  :hick: . Oh and I also have Stang headers, 2.25 real dual exhaust, HO upper & TB, and 3.73 gears and a traction lock which makes a much bigger improvement on performance.

It can help some, but it's not worth buying a premade kit, all you need is some dryer hose really you could even use the stock air box and just mount it to a scoop in front of the air dam, then run duct back up the the intake hose.

Even better would be a cone filter on the end of a longer hose, just make a box around it to build air pressure and mount it low.

Functional, I'm sure. But then you'd have dryer hose under your hood. :yuck:

A ram-air setup for a n/a 3.8 or 5.0 isn't going to add much power. Maybe 5-10hp, and only on a dyno test or at the track. On the street the net result would be negligible. The reason the ram-air setup worked on the Turbo Coupe was due to the intercooler, cooling the air charge before going into the intake. That is a turbo's best friend right there. My brother owns a '97 WS6 Ram-Air Trans Am...trust me, upper rpm's and dyno testing are the only ways you can feel the ram air effect. But getting cooler air into the intake is always a good thing.
