You could likely build a 427 Cougar for much less and it would be just as original as that "original" with the wrong engine... Quote Selected

I would say the car still might be worth some cash, but you really have to wonder if that Cougar is worth that much in that condition. The 428 Cobra Jet versions of the GTE(introduced April '68) had a functional ram air setup with a scoop similar to the Boss 429s.I owned a "W" code(427) GTE back in '77-'78(paid $450 for it off a used car lot), it is one of the few I've let get away that I wish I still had. Mine wasn't a XR7 but a std version with the GTE option, making it far rarer than the XR7 version. Still the XR7 would be more disreable(valuable). Luckly I know this car survives today. Just as a FYI... Out of approx 300 different vehicles, that is the only Cougar I've ever owned.. Still without the original engine I wouldn't pay that kind of money for it. If it were a nice original with its 427, I could see it going for $40-$50K fairly easily.Are these fox Birds/Cougs ever gonna be worth that kind of money?? Maybe in a 100 years or so... NADA price for a GT-E with the 427Low:$43,200 Average: $72,000* High: $99,000 As it sits that car would be lower than low, average means its a 20 footer and it sure as hell needs a LOT of money thrown at it to be a 20 footer.
