I heard the same thing. Its becasue the media is causing a public scare. All on behalf of the hurricane. I think  :bs: .

I also heard there was going to be a shortage of gas and there would be line at the pump.

Looks like it's time to throw the extra battery into the two 88s and pump 'em dry.

This outrage extends far beyone the area of the upcomming hurricane.
Here, in Manitoba, Canada, all the gas stations were lined up like we have not seen since the seventies.  Some are already running out of gas.

The local media was stating that prices would rise to $1.50 a liter and more tonight.

I heard it would be getting up around 4 a gallon but didn't hear of when. My uncle works for BP in Baltimore at their refinery/distribution place. He said they get their oil from those places in TX that are about to get hit by the hurricane.

My uncle works for BP in Baltimore at their distribution place. He said they get their oil from TX and the refineries are going to be shut down. It would take a couple days even if they are not affected by the hurrincane to get back up and running.

If it hits even as high as $4 a gallon...I will get out the ski mask and run around with a 5-gallon gas and siphon hose in the middle of the night...if it hits $5 a gallon, I will be assembling an assault team to hi-jack tanker rigs.  You think i'm kidding...

Just took my car and my mother's car up to fill 'em up and make sure the tires were all inflated properly. (always fun in the rain) I'd do it to the T-bird, too.. but with the battery being questionable, I don't want to risk getting stranded tonight.

It was $2.79/gal for regular, $2.89/gal for the 89 I put in the Mark. (both at the nearby Hess)

the Hurricane is the cause of it.

Most of the refineries along costal Louisiana have been whiped out buy the bitch Katrina. Some are back up and running but many are still down.

And if Hurricane Rita hits Beaumont like they predict as a catagory 5, that will be a third of the us oil refineries offline. If that happens $5 a gal. will seem like a bargain in the future.

maybe baby bush will did into the hords of oil he has been stashing away.
Can u explane why Canada's gas is going up?
Are home insurace is going up to help cover the costs of Louisiana.
Also note that the Population in Canada is around 32,233,955 people.
The USA had 293,655,404 people in there July 1, 2004 Census
We pay more for insurance and gas then people in the US.

I didn't see Que Ice storm needeing funds from US to recover,  Sure only a millon people but area was huge and cost would have been pennys compated to what is needed in Louisiana.

Just a thought I'm just pissed going lose my house if my insurace goes anyhigher

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

Glad I filled up this morning. This price gouging based on a temporary supply shortage is just rediculous.
