Saw a 1988 Turob Coupe for sale by my house

Hello:

I'm new to the forum and wanted to get some info from you experts out there.

I saw a 1988 Turbo Coupe for sale by my house today. It's black with an automatic on the console.

Where can I find some specs on this year car? Did all 88 trubo coupes come with 4 cylinders or did some of them have V8s.

If htere is a web site where I can get some details like this one for Mustangs (http://www.mustanggt.org), I would greatly appreciate it.

The guy only wants $1000 obo offer and it looks to be in pretty good shape. No one was home when I saw it so I will have to call tomorrow to get more details (mileage, etc.).

All TC were 4 bangers turbos. None had V8 or V6 unless they were swapped in.

Try TCCOA or NATO for more info unless someone else wants to chime in.

The automatic trans TC's for '87-'88 are 150hp, the 5 speeds are 190hp. This is mostly due to less boost 9 vs 15lb, the auto trannys arn't known for exceptional durability.

if they have v6 or v8 s in them than they are thunderbird lx or sports...just to clarify. the turbo 2.3 4 cyl, amung other details is what makes it a turbo coupe...

Hello:

I live just north of Detroit, MI near Royal Oak, MI.

I hope to make contact with the seller today. I used to have a 85 turbo coupe (bought it brand new and had it for 5 years). I wasn't sure if at some point after I had mine if they started putting in v6 or v8. Maybe it was when they went to the square body stye and had super coupes where the v8 came into play. I wasn't too sure.

I currently have a 2001 Mustang that has 38,000 miles on it. I'm hoping to find something so I don't have to drive it during the upcoming MI winter and come Spring be able to fix the chosen car up. This particular Turbo Coupe has a few dents here in there on it (not sure how some of them could possibly be made in the course of driving, but, who am I to talk).

I didn't see any rust to speak if, the tires and wheels looked pretty good. If I get it I will definitely return for more chats, I find these forums very useful. I found out a lot of stuff and help from the various Mustang ones that are on the web.

Thanks for the info and I look forward to working and chatting with all of you soon after I buy this 88.

You may be confused by the '89+ SuperCoupe, which had a SC V6. :)

cougars and thunderbirds are viturally identical just some cosmetics.

if you get it, this is a good site to visit. just watch out for the salt rust if this is a michigan car, give the underbody a good looksy and where the rear window meets the truck lid and where the doors meet the body on the doors and the sill there. good luck.

hey i know you town i9 live up here in the snow contry (canada) my car and my buddies car are rusted in the same place (drivers side behind the rear wheel right on top the trim) look there and go over car with a frige magnet just so you know you are not buying a bondo special . (dont drag the magnet on the paint!) dose it have that cool redline somewhere by or on the trim ? welcome to the board .
