Yeah not a pleasant topic.  But if I may, doesn't it look like the front end is a 83-86?

Nope. It has corner lenses.

Yeah. It shows just how much fox bodies like to swap ends. A 200' skid at only 100kph (60mph). Another reason why I will never drive it in the winter. Splitting in half is scary enough.

If they skidded 200' and had enough speed to rip the car in half, they were going way over 60mph to start with.

I was thinking the same thing, but these are the facts we're left with. Still, these cars are notorious for 180's.

Actually I don't think this should be deleted. It could serve as a lesson about how even though these cars are big and strong, there are bigger and stronger objects out there. Plenty of us have walked away from major crashes in these cars, but obviously some weren't so lucky. Drive carefully.

Perhaps a change of title is in order to let people know there's a bit more than a fender bender...

I saw that right after it was origionally posted and quickly dismissed it as photoshop.  I'm completely shocked that a fox body would break in two, and not just wrap around the pole, like most wrecks.

There was an accident here about a decade ago in which a car load of young guys in a Fox Mustang were racing around on a local twisty road. They went sideways, hit a pole and the car sheared in half just like that Thunderbird did. Four of the five guys in the car died instantly. The fifth (the driver) killed himself shortly after being released from hospital.

I also seem to remember seeing photos of a bad one in an SN95 Mustang in BC, Canada, a few years ago that the car split in half and killed a bunch of kids.

These Fox cars are strong as hell in a frontal impact, but they're like pop cans when broadsided. No side impact protection at all...

Will, do. The insensitive first line will be changed as well.

It's incredible that three of the five people in that car actually survived and only one of them was wearing a seatbelt.  I mean, just look at the thing.  Absolutely incredible.

Looks to me like the car broke off at the front subframe. Not really all that surprising.
