390 to 460 - Tranny issue....

390 (FE series) to 460 (385-Series family).... will i have to change the tranny?
Is this a direct bolt on or should I buy the 460 w/ his own tranny?

How about my actual driving shaft?? (on my 67 T-bird of course...)

The Smallest FE is the 332 mfg in '58-'59

The 292 is part of the "Y block" family(mfg '54-'64), which included 239, 272, 292, 312.. I'm 99% sure their bells do not fit a FE(or a 460). The old Y's moment in the sun was '57, when dual 4bbl and supercharged 312s were available. They were pretty much kicked to the curb with the FE's debut in '58. The 292 soldiered on till '63 when the new small block 260 became the small V8 option in the Galaxies(replaced at mid '63 with the 289. Hey Chev had a 283 you figure it out). The pickups got the 292 thru '64 and it slid into the history books.
