painting the inside,

i saw some stuff like spray paint that you spray one your dash and door panel to change colors and then there is a spray paint for the carpet.
i have right now blue inter and want to change it to black/red. everything in the car to nice and new looking, but the carpet has wear.(been sitting in barn to 2yrs)

so my questions is.

1. has any one use this stuff ?  (dash paint / carpet paint)

For the dash stuff are you talking about the vinyl spray paint? I heard that stuff works pretty good, saw an article where they tested it in Hot Rod on a seat and they said it went on good and seemed to hold up pretty well.

For the carpet and other fabric items...why not just dye them, it'd hold up a lot better than some kinda paint.

Yes this does work. Just as with any kind of paint you need to do all the proper prep work  to make is work good. I work at auto parts store and I mix paint there. We mix that kind of stuff all the time. There is a certian additive they put into that makes it extra thin so it is more like dye. I've haven't seen it on any carpet. We can mix it to any color and I've even used the paint scanner to match exterior color's. Also a buddy of mine has a car that someone has painted the interior and some of it has got on the carpet and it won't oocome off.
