Shipping tickets into Canada from US

I know there are a lot of ebayers around here and maby someone can help:

I want to purchase some concert tickets, for a concert in the US, from a seller in the US.  When I have them shipped to Canada via USPS, will I have to pay duty on the tickets?

If so, where can I find out how much?

Thanks in advance to any Canadian ebayers who have tryed this.

Tim

I would guess that if they're just put into an envelope you won't have to pay duty. In fact, the sender shouldn't even be required to fill out a customs sticker. Canada Post and Canada Customs do not open envelopes. Have your sender send it via registered lettermail - it'll be safe and should be duty free.

FYI (if anyone cares)

I called the post office, sending tickets via lettermail, or expresspost lettermail, is duty free into Canada.

I got the tickets in my mail box today.

Now that the cat (or the bird in this case) is out of the bag - has anyone here imported a car into :canada: from :america: before?

Any hints, tips, or suggestions would be appericated. I'd fly down and drive it back but I have no AL left to take.

If you have a vehicle that is over 15 years old, you don't go
through the RIV.  You need a signed ownership, or for non-title
states - a notorized bill of sale.  A bill of sale is always a good
idea also.  Make sure the owner of the vehicle is the one who signs
the bill of sale!

Fax the ownership and a cover letter to the US side of the boarder
you are going to be crossing at 72 hours in advance to export the
vehicle.

On the canadian side, pay the GST, make sure they stamp the Form 1
TWICE, because the second stamp means that it is exempt from the
RIV.  Then run to the nearest MTO and get your 10 day permit.  You
can attempt to drive back on the US plates also.  If they are
current, it should be no problem since most states legally give you
three days to transfer the plates.

Then all you need is an ontario safety, the bill of sale, the Form 1
from the boarder, the original title, and to pay the licencing and
PST on the vehicle and you should get your ontario title and plates.

If the car is 15 years old or less...

That's some good information there Sir. Sticky worthy I think. The only problem is I'm just as far away from Ontario as I am from Virginia. LOL

I've contacted a transport company and they are handling the border stuff; filling out the forms, the 72 hour thing (I believe - I'll have to confirm that), paying the $182 fee, GST, etc. I just have to pay them for it when the car gets here... plus the brokerage fees.
