the tranny in your current car? if it has overdrive it's a AOD, if not I believe it's a C4 or C6

'91 mustang strictly street-in progress

yes but thats the prob it has been replaced and i bought it with a bad tranny so all i can go off of is the numbers and letter stamped on the thing or.... is there a tag around there that would say it on the tranny

climb under the car, and on the pan, i think an AOD will say "METRIC" and "overdrive" on it, i havnt looked at an AOD for a long time, but i believe itll say that on it

does your car have 3 gears or 4?
It's Gumby's fault.

AOD/C6 - one piece case.
C4/C5 - bolt-on bell housing.

AOD - squarish pan (rear corners taper) TV rod levers.
C4/C5 - square pan, vacuum modulator.
C6 - squarish pan (notched), vacuum modulator.

C4/C5/AOD pan I.D.
C6 pan I.D.
