well the 88 is getting a new heart now. so, 331 or 351? August 12, 2005, 10:30:52 AM I "suspended" the insurance, it technically has insurance but its not insured for driving. just so I can keep the tags so now I will be spending $56 every 6 months lol :Dhoping to start working on pulling the motor today and have it out by sunday if im not busy doing anything else. the only thing left in the car is the front seats and dashboard, rear seats are just sitting in the hatch for now. So I will prally be selling my exhaust stuff if anybody needs anything (see sig)Torn between a dss 331 or a dss 351, either of which will be carbed with lots of goodies on top :). Quote Selected

Re: well the 88 is getting a new heart now. so, 331 or 351? Reply #4 – August 12, 2005, 12:01:32 PM why not a 347 if ur going for an aftermarket block and all. if you dont like that i say 351. but think a 347 could be fun in the mustang. Quote Selected

Reply #6 – August 12, 2005, 01:12:45 PM 400hp in anything is doable with the right combothe thing that you need to keep in mind, special headers would be required, and a few misc BS items for the 351 that the 302 wouldnt requireid go 331, that way the headers and h-pipe you have would still be useful Quote Selected

Reply #7 – August 12, 2005, 03:33:09 PM 331, so you don't have to get different headers, lower intake, hood, oil pan, etc....you can also say "it's only a 302" then again, i'm a huge fan of the sleeper effect.....just ask the Z06 corvette that i was hanging with on route 100. Re: well the 88 is getting a new heart now. so, 331 or 351? Reply #11 – August 12, 2005, 04:27:53 PM ive heard nice things about the 331, but the 347 on the other hand its been stated many times its not that great of a street motor, hell of a strip motor though.I dont think Ill need a new hood if I was to get some motor mounts that lower it down a little because the mach 1 hood I have has a 1.5" raise. I think that would suffice to clear it. Besides, ive seen 351s under stock hoods before. The exhaust parts thing im not worried about, Ill most likely just do it right this time and installed some long tubes on it with side exhaust :) Quote Selected
Re: well the 88 is getting a new heart now. so, 331 or 351? Reply #12 – August 12, 2005, 05:37:02 PM The 347 doesn't have the oil control of a 331, its not a good street motor...and a 331 is waaaay easier to install than a 351.20 extra cubes of a 351 aren't gonna help that much...look how much faster a stock 5.0HO Mustang was compared to a TPI350 Camaro back in the day.Go 331. Re: well the 88 is getting a new heart now. so, 331 or 351? Reply #13 – August 12, 2005, 08:58:32 PM the oil issue was in the early 347's, most kits have been refined and revised since then, and most, if not all oiling issues are gone by now Quote Selected
