Just a bit of an FYI- k-member braces

Just though I might let you guys know, I tried to fit up my '79-93 Fox Mustang Maximum Motorsports 4-point k-member brace to my Thunderbird the other day and it doesn't quite line up. I guess the holes are laid out a bit differently on the Mustang K-member or something. Here's the deal- the holes the original brace bolts to will line up with the front part of the brace, but if the front part of the brace is lined up with these holes, the rear part of the brace is too far back to bolt up (and vice versa). Also, the holes in the k-member are no where near big enough, the factory brace uses 12mm bolts (I think) whereas the MM brace uses some huge 5/8" bolts in the front.

One last thing is that on the passenger side of the car where the rear part of the brace bolts up, it doesn't quite wanna line up right because it hits against the fuel lines where they go from the frame to the k-member.

From looking at MM's catalog I surmise that the '94-95 Mustang 4-point brace might actually fit our cars because it has less distance between the front & rear parts of the brace (if you look at the catalog you can see what I mean). If I feel motivated enough I MIGHT try moving the fuel lines on my car, and then seeing if I can cut apart the two parts of my brace and then weld it back together so they fit. Dunno yet.

That's why the 2 point brace although not as good as the 4 point is a much better bet.

but why settle for a 2 point, if you have the tools and know-how to make a superior part work?

id like to see how it turns out, i thought about making one myself, but i just dont have the tools to do so
It's Gumby's fault.

Well, even if I had a 2 point one, if it was from MM it still wouldn't go right on because of the holes not being big enough for the bolts they use.

I'm wondering if I even have a big enough drill bit to open the holes up that much.
