rear disk/5lug ?s

hey guys. i decided to start tinkering with the tbird again. i dragged out the 8.8 i had set aside for the car and started tearing it down. im converting it over to 5 lug disks soon but im not sure of a few things.

i was originally planning on a cobra setup in the rear to go with the front. i was a little taken back by the price of the rear stuff. now, i havnt realy looked at the mustang gt/v6 rear brake prices much yet but i assume it would be alot cheeper. im not sure i want to sacrafice the vented rotors though.

i suppose the mustang stuff would work plenty good enough and parts would be much easier to come by.

then there is the mark vii stuff. from what i understand the rear disks are vented on those. do they mount differently than the mustang stuff? are the brackets different? ill most likely just go with the mustang stuff but if the mark viis stuff is similarly priced and would work as well (i assume somewhere between the mustang and cobra brakes) i could go with those.

i guess im looking for any advice and opinions you might have. thanks again guys...john

Yes the Mk VII brakes mount different, here's a couple pics of the Mark brakes on the TC axle I put in my Cougar. The discs are vented, and are 11.25", much bigger than the Stang. :D

cool...thanks. looks like they mount similar to the mustangs. i was concerned about the "moan brace". it looks like the mark viis is bolted on as well as the mustangs. i allready unbolted and ground off the turbo coupes as it was welded. id go with the cobra setup but for some reason the bracket is expensive. i found a set for 140 bucks. from what i understand the only differance between the cobra setup and the mustangs is the rotor is bigger thicker and vented, the bracket is taller to hold the caliper further out from the axle to compensate for the bigger rotor and the pads for the cobra are thinner. they even use the same caliper. if thats so im just going to try to find some cobra brackets and rotors. i dunno....
