Seatbelt wet

It's been raining pretty heavy and my friend noticed that my passenger side rear seat belt is absolutely soaked and the rear of the seat a little wet but thats the only thing in the cars interior that is anyone got an idea?

First off:  check your trunk.  Mine did something similar and I finally found out it was leaking at the bottom of the rear window which was letting water into the trunk and the rear passenger area.
1986 Mercury Cougar XR-7 Turbo-charged 5-speed.

X2, and also don't rule out the quarter window...it's possible the sealant is dried up and there's a small spot where water could get in. We've had some heavy rain, though nothing like kansas city and farther south where you are.

alright so i pulled up the rear seat and the rear passenger seat area is absolutely soaked the floorboards and driver side rear is bone dry and oh god the smell how much do you guys think have the rear quarter and rear window resealed would be? also how do i get the quarter window trim off i don't want the glass guy breaking anything i cant find again

The trim stays with the glass I believe. You'll have to remove the seat back and bottom, pull the plastic interior panel off, and then you'll see the nuts the hold the glass in. Go down to carquest, autohole, or O'ripoffs and get yourself a tube or two of windshield sealant (black stuff) and you can easily fix it yourself. A little elbow grease with a wire wheel drill attachment, and you're ready to goop the shiznit back on and reassemble. Just like silicon gasket stuff. Easy peasy.

Now if it's the back glass, you'd probably want a auto body shop or a glass place do that. Let us know :)

gonna have to put this on hold until i have time but i was looking for more water and found that the well kinda area in the trunk was wet i pulled up the trunk interior and it was full of rust :(

Well if it's in the trunk I's suspect the rear glass needs resealed. Jcassity has a thread about this, i believe, but it'll take a search to excavate it, as it's probably been around ten years..

Guess when i have time and money ill reseal the side windows and call a glass guy but now i have a new problem my friend was messing with my air controls and broke it now its stuck on defrost :(

What year Thundercat? 83-86 cars have trim around the quarter window, 87-88 cars do not, as it's part of the window.
88 Thunderbird LX: 306, Edelbrock Performer heads, Comp 266HR cam, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, bunch of other stuff.

you can carefully cut the window seal from the inside with a razor knife but take your time and work yourself around the whole window.

I'm guessing you have manual HVAC controls, not EATC.
If he physically broke the vacuum valve it will stay on defrost until the valve is replaced.
He may have unplugged the  vacuum connection to the function selector vacuum valve.
Notice with the doors in the NV position, the air goes to the windshield outlets.

Does anyone make this part anymore? Also is it the one directly behind the glovebox it kinda seems like its getting no vacuum
