unplugging relay connectors

i was thumbing through the evtm and behold,, FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS.

You know how when you have to remove a connector you have to get your finger under the tab or a screwdriver under it then fight the connector off..... well if the tab is split,, the manual says to "push in on the tab then pull!!!

hey,, i didnt know this so i tried it on my WOT relay connector,,,  worked like a charm!!!

just sharing

I don't follow...as in squeeze it inward closer to the housing instead of pulling outward? Or push the two split halves toward each other? Trying to visualize how it works, as simple as the  thing is...

My dad used to scold me constantly with those upper-case letters. I've learned it mostly the hard way. Of course. It's funny, sad, scary, and annoying that you can become "smart" enough to think you know the device better than the people who built it and scorn the help they've provided you. I am getting better. If you look at those connectors they say "PUSH" on them. Just push down where it says "PUSH" and vola they come apart easily.

Been doing it that way for years ;)

They must be in the minority I swear I've never seen that. All I ever see are FOUR tabs that I somehow have to hold up in the air at the same  time for them to get over the bump. Aaaaand quite typically by the end of the job there are either two or no tabs left. Friction, don't let me down, keep that plug together!!

Hmm the 10 pin connectors, relay connectors, MAF connectors, and several other electrical connectors on my Thunderbird have "PUSH" molded right into the connector tab. Maybe it's an '88 thing?

Yes, what i mean is you simply push the clip in up against the connector its made to and it spreads out.  I had no idea this was the "way to do it" until i ran across the instructions in the early pages of the EVTM.
