87 Cluster Wire ID October 30, 2016, 07:06:19 PM Hey guys .... been a long time since Ive posted here. I need some help with a couple of wires I discovered pulling out my 87 Turbocoupe gauge cluster. The dash was pulled by the previous owner to do a heater core so I dont know if he chose to eliminate some things. I looked at the EVTM but I am having a difficult time finding these. Any help is greatly appreciated.Fist is a gray two wire connector with purple/orange and brown/red wires. Seems to be coming out from the boost guage. My first thoughts are it goes to the firm ride light. The problem is I cant find the mating connector.Next is a black wire that comes from the large gauge connector. It looks like its been cut....again I cant find the other half.Lastly there is a connector which has been taped up with four wires...... sorry I have not removed the tape. Thanks John Quote Selected

87 Cluster Wire ID Reply #2 – October 31, 2016, 02:55:04 PM Thank you.....yes buttstuffog cluster.Weird....the pictures don't come up on my phone. So far I've found the first plug in the EVTM is supposed to go to some dimming module for the ride control led. I need to get back under the dash and see if I can find it. I am going to go back through the EVTM for the others later tonight. I appreciate the offer and will give you call when I've got my ducks sorted ...... I don't want to waste your time.Unfortunately..I've created a new problem. I have my cluster apart and dropped the fuel guage. The needle popped off and upon getting it back together.....I can only get it to drop to a quarter scale. If I can't fix this I may be looking for one if anyone has one laying around.ThanksJohn Quote Selected

87 Cluster Wire ID Reply #4 – October 31, 2016, 05:32:57 PM Thanks..... I think Ive got it all figured out except that loose black wire, its paired with a GY/Y wire on pin 7 of the cluster connector. The 87 EVTM is hard to make out from your link. Can you look at pg104 of the 87 EVTM for the 2.3L and look at pin 7 to see if I am correct to assume it has no connection. The 88 EVTM shows only a single LB/P on pin 7 so it was no help trying to compare. The taped up 2 pin connector with four wires appears to be part of the premium sound with EQ speaker connection. Makes sense since there is no stereo or speaker in the hole on DS dash. Previous owner yanked his sound system. As for the Ride Control LED.... I got frustrated with photobucket looking at the 87 EVTM so looking at pg92 of the 88 EVTM... I should find some sort of dimmer control relay under the dash tied in with the lighting switches.LOL.... Fuel Guage..... Im really mad at myself for this one!!!! All I wanted to do was solder a resistor in the tach for an 8cyl and decided I was going to clean everthing up in the process....... I bent the the two hooks that hold the pointer trying to get it back on. Its together but its not smooth nor do I think it will go full scale. I tested with a partially dead 9v battery (had 6v) it went just above 1/2 scale. Connected another in series for 12v and still barely went to full. Dropping back to Empty it hangs and needs a tap to drop. Now frustrated.....packed it up for another day.Going trick or treating with my youngest so I will have to raincheck the call. If you have a guage let me know what you want for it. I think Id rather replace it. Im not ready to do a full custom gauge panel in a cracked up dash.John Quote Selected
