I am new and wanted to meet fellow Mercury Cougar fans! 🙂

This is my car a 1987 Mercury Cougar XR-7!  It's been a year in the making and I really hope that my son enjoys it for his 16th birthday! I had a very similar car when I was in high school and I wanted to continue on the tradition. This one has a new paint job with zero rust! Only 46k original miles/leather/new stereo/factory rims

I would love any comments/feedback or questions anyone my have 🙂

Great looking cougar! There are a few Long Island guys myself included if you want to meet up one day. Welcome to the forum.

Were those before/after pics?  Both great looking.

Interesting color of blue, what is it?

Thankyou David for the nice welcome!

Mike, yes these are before and after pictures. Personally, I liked the grey but my son is a huge Detroit Lions fan and I  bought this for him about 13 to 14 months ago. I had one of these when I was in high school and I found one for him with only 46,000 miles in Omaha so I jumped at the chance. Other than a few dings in a little paint work on the door the car is pretty much in my condition. I have spent The last 10 months transforming it into showroom condition and i'm proud to say that it will be complete in three days. Mechanically It needed  fluids changed/new air-conditioning/battery/tune-up/and rearview mirror! I've done the paint job and bodywork and I still have to install the broth he's only for the hood and the tinted light covers. I will be flying to my brothers house in Missouri on Tuesday to pick it up at the dealership I got all the work done to and then driving it back to Michigan and surprise my son for his birthday.

The only thing that I'm worried about is I found out about seven months ago that he hates cars and he only wants an SUV or truck! i'd like to say I blame my ex-wife so I will! So with that said I hope everything I've done to it makes it special for him enough to keep it however if he doesn't love it I understand the rarity of this car and I would rather just give Him $2000-$3000 to buy a truck  and either keep it myself or sell it! I'm excited and worried at the same time but here are some pictures of the interior when I first bought it and during the paint job. Hope you enjoy the pictures and if you have any thoughts or comments please let me know .X

Interior looks really good.  I say if he doesn't REALLY like it, you keep it.  Let him beat up an everyday truck or suv.

I agree with you but I would not feel comfortable keeping it in the city. I will probably just sell it so someone else can enjoy it.

Also maybe someone can help me with this problem - I bought some decals from http://www.coolcats.net months ago and never received them. When I try to contact them the messages never go through! Does anyone have any advice on this site?
