Trunk alignment question

Has anyone done a trunk alignment?  My trunk seems to be slightly skewed to one side/crooked and pushed to rear 1/4" or so.  It also latches lower than the rear panels.

Another question,  what are folks doing to replace or repair the cardboard inside top cover that hides the rear speakers.  I've got bolts with big washers where the plastic push-tabs used to be but the cardboard is ripping all the way to the end.  The junkyard cars are in even worse shape or missing.

For the rear deck, I use some luan, I believe is what it is called.

B3TB,  are you talking about the rear deck where the speakers grills are mounted (inside the car)?  I was referring the ceiling inside the trunk that covers the speakers and wiring.  Did you make that out of luan?

Sorry my bad, I thought you were referring to the deck inside.  I have nothing covering mine right now either, to be honest did not know there was a cover on the bottom to hide speakers and wires.  I sure you could make it out of luan and some brackets, cover it in the trunk liner material.

I had my 87 tbird hit a few times and it tweaked the trunk to the point the trunk would pop open on speed bumps. When I replaced the trunk lid (mine was rusty and had the lock ripped out) it wasn't even close to lining up. I eventually ended up hitting the back of the light panel with a sledge to get it back into place. I believe both the rubber stops on either side can be screwed up and down and I think the latch in the center is slotted so it can be moved up and down as well.

I ended up bending my trunk hinges also, with the trunk lid bolted on. I just grabbed it hard and yanked and I was able to get rid of a 1/2" gap on one side and make it sit more level as well.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

Maybe that's all I need to do then -- just yank it around.  I did try unscrewing the rubber stops but didn't think about a slotted latch catch.  Thanks Haystack!
