88 tc help error codes help Reply #1 – December 27, 2015, 09:52:05 PM Codes 84 & 88: I suspect you have lost the power and or EEC connections to your A4LD automatic transmission solenoids.Don't know anything about your blinking light. Can't find it in the diagrams. Quote Selected

88 tc help error codes help Reply #8 – December 28, 2015, 03:38:58 PM That explains the error codes.I have no idea if that affects the drivability. I think the auto ECU limits the boost so as to not put too much strain on the A4LD.Don't know if it has any other differences . Quote Selected

88 tc help error codes help Reply #11 – December 28, 2015, 09:26:13 PM The boost is controlled by the waste-gate and bleed through the boost solenoid (controlled by the eec) and orifice in the turbo waste gate actuator itself. IIRC, auto turbos have the bleed set to allow turbo boost to ~10psi, the manual turbos have a larger orifice drilled in the actuator and allows for ~15psi. Of course, a ~$50 Gillis valve allows you to bypass the solenoid entirely and control your boost level (plus it allows boost to build at lower RPMs, entirely changing the characteristics of the car for the better...)As far as codes, the NATO site has a good rundown on what codes mean for the Programmed Ride Control (PRC) in their faqs. For the eec, the codes may be on cool cats or can be found here by searching, I believe.Good luck,Daniel Quote Selected

I've seen automatic PCM work fine in 5spd cars, boost was normal AND I've seen other cars the idle was wonky using using the automatic PCM... Note the only auto PCM I'm experienced with is the 8UA which is what was in most '88... Quote Selected
