Re: t-bird crash test ratings Reply #2 – July 16, 2005, 11:18:52 AM In 83, they crashed the car at a slightly higher speed and an off angle creating more than desired chassis and body flex giving it the poorer rating. They could not undo what they did so they were sure to correct it for the 84 model year and recieved better results.Really I have no clue but this is the only smart remark I could think of :giggle:Your right, it is weird that the results were worse in 83 than 84. I'd blame it on the crash testers. Or they tested an early 83 car that was built more as a replica of the production car and not an actual production car. That is if such a thing were to exist.
