My 2 cents worth, get the 15x7 rims and run the same sized tires front and back. My rear tires won't fit up front, they rub on the shock. A 15x4 would need a tiny tires and you would lose front end grip very easily.

With my combo, driving in the snow can be interesting if your not careful. The rear tires try to settle in the grove made by the fronts, so everytime you correct the wheel even alittle bit one tire or the other slides into the groove. It also greatly upset the cars handling.

Even though clover leafs are fun because there is so much more grip, a slightly damp road causes the car to slide out. Once sideways, if you let go of the gas, you get snap over steer. Then when you think the car has settled and it grips again, it shoots forwards, whichever way the car is facing. The front tires do nothing.

Say you go around a corner quick and let off the gas while your sliding, the back end shoots hard the opposite direction. If your rotated around too far, it just spins out. Although it is exciting, its a pain and very unpredictable.

With stock sized tires all around, you can hit a clover leaf at speed an once you exceed front end grip, you get more of a 4 wheel drift. It is quite a bit more fun to drive at the limit when you know what the car is going to do.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

Honestly, a set of stock 10-holes would probably be the best looking wheel you could put on that car, with 235/60R15 tires.

+1

87-88 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe wheels would also look great. 225/60/16s on those.

88 Thunderbird LX: 306, Edelbrock Performer heads, Comp 266HR cam, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, bunch of other stuff.

Thank you for the info and I agree about the smaller rims up front.this will just be a summer only car.im leaning toward all the same size rims all around or 15x7 front and 15x8 rear.just don't know what rims to go with yet as there are a lot out there.i love the 10 holes and the turbo coupe wheels that thunder jet has.but I also still like the weld draglites and kegs fast five type.thanks to everyone helping out and your patience..

Nice looking car. Checking your local Craigslist, I see a few respectable choices available for not a lot of $$:

Decent price for these, if you don't mind the black color: http://syracuse.craigslist.org/pts/5124186930.html

These would look sharp, but the Mustang centercaps would have to go: http://syracuse.craigslist.org/pts/5097531240.html
Fortunately, they're easily replaced: http://www.americanmuscle.com/silver-ponycap-9093.html

Here's a wheel and tire package ready to bolt on: http://syracuse.craigslist.org/pts/5136264390.html
You could even add some Thunderbird center caps to replace the generic Ford logo ones: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1985-88-THUNDERBIRD-TURBO-COUPE-CENTER-CAPS-/191620898548?hash=item2c9d7edef4&vxp=mtr

Anyway, good luck.

Yes sir to always loved the ponys on these cars here mine when I had some with tbbird emblems
I even thought about getting them in 17" When I did my 5 lug conversion

And I can't argue with the stock 87/88 tc wheels, best looking factory fox tbird/cat wheel IMO

That's a good price for the pony wheels. You could get some NICE tires and still not have a lot of $ in the package. Also the 10 holes are a decent price and bolt on ready.
