The reason is because that survey conveniently decided to discount anything made in Mexico, including components. As Mexico is 1/3 of North America, that's disingenuous.

This seems to be a more thorough list, albeit from 2014:

Language is a pain in the ass. We all hate saying things that are hard to say. We can call ourselves "Americans" because it rolls off the tongue. What should we say? "U.S.'ers"? "United State-ians"? I don't know :) But it does bother me just a little bit that we basically claim almost the entire Western Hemisphere and we're only one country. I had an argument with my mom over this and she said I was splitting hairs :rollin:
1987 20th Anniversary Cougar, 302 "5.0" GT-40 heads (F3ZE '93 Cobra) and TMoss Ported H.O. intake, H.O. camshaft
2.5" Duals, no cats, Flowmaster 40s, Richmond 3.73s w/ Trac-Lok, maxed out Baumann shift kit, 3000 RPM Dirty Dog non-lock TC
Aside from the Mustang crinkle headers, still looks like it's only 150 HP...
1988 Black XR7 Trick Flow top end, Tremec 3550
1988 Black XR7 Procharger P600B intercooled, Edelbrock Performer non-RPM heads, GT40 intake AOD, 13 PSI @5000 RPM. 93 octane

What ford product is even made outside of Mexico or Canada? I know a guy that does engine block casting in the US still.

The new global platform ford has gone with has limited how many materials are made here. The fiesta, focus, Mazda 3 fusion and even some suspension parts of the mustang are based off of European models,. Cross platform building has always been a staple. But new cars are more global then domestic.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.
