Exterior Door Trim Panel - How do these come off?

Like the title says - How do you safely remove these black door trim pieces without damaging them?

Mine are in need of a makeover after 30 years, and I've just never needed to remove them until now.    Thanks for the help!

It looks like you have a 83-86 car which is different than the 87-88 cars.  Its been over 15+ years since I removed mine to paint but I want to say the rear quarter windows have screws and they come off pretty easy where the door pieces have a spring mechanism that is a bit more involved but not that bad.
