EEC -IV .... soon to be out the door....

Well, I'm not sure if it was a good thing or not, but I took the opportunity while I was laid up a bit after the knee surgery and the wisdom teeth yanking to put my MegaSquirt ECU together...  NOt sure if doing while on mild pain meds was a smart idea or not..but we'll see. It's modded to run the TFI and use the IAC for warm-up only.  It's also got the flyback board mod (first pic) so I can use the stock-type impedance injectors.

My laptop is dead :toilet: , so I need to wait until I get another to fully test it, but the LEDs flash as they should using the little tester...so we'll see.

Gonna build the relay box and a new engine harness (get rid of 20+ yr old wiring) before it goes into the car.  I still have alot to sort out and the fun will really begin when I get into the tuning. :hick:

I read an article in Car Craft awhile back about the DIY megasquirt EEC.  Sounds pretty cool.  Good luck with it.

This is ed cool. If I had time to finish all of my other projects I would get right into this and try it myself. Hopefully some day I will be able to.

Awesome.

I was thinking about fuel injecting the 200 cube six in my zephyr with megasquirt and some left over injectors from an HO swap.  Its a pretty simple setup but requires your own custom tuning & time.

Matt/nitro - You need to talk with Bird351, since I see you guys both share an interest and love for the trusty I-6.

Not to derail this any further, but couldn't you also try adapting an EEC from a SEFI 3.8 to the 200/3.3?

Heh.. I probably killed a good hour or two reading over the MegaSquirt site again yesterday. I blame Chuck. :p

I think by the time you beat your head on the wall trying to sort out the adaptation of the 3.8 EEC to the 3.3, you'd have gotten a MS to run on it.

If you've only spent an hour or so on the MS site(s)...you haven't even scratched the surface ;)

I've spent time on it before. Yesterday was mainly reading the section on boost and the MS. It's one of those things I read every once in awhile when I remember it, or someone reminds me of it.. (hence the blame part) :p kinda like that "Steve, Don't Eat It!" site. :p  :yuck:

Glad to see someone is playing around with the MS.  I was looking into driving a CFI on a 5.0L with it, to play in NHRA's Stock Class.  Let us know how you do.  Good luck,  Fred

This is the first of several possible projects I have use for M/S.  Hell, even my daily driver turbo Ranger would benefit from it.  I'd much rather be using EDIS as the ignition on the set-up in the Tbird, but I'm not ready to get into converting this engine over yet...so TFI it is for now.  I can honestly see myself with 3-4 cars w/ MS on it when it's all said and done...hell even all of them, but I've got to start somewhere.

I know this is off topic a bit, but the 3.8 EEC may not work out well on a straight six b/c they were batch fire (this is the case with at least the early speed density systems; I don't know about the later ones at all).
