trunk area left and right openings in rear qtr

I seem to recall "at least" one side of the trunk like on the driver side where during a couple years there was a drop in plastic tool container.

I am interested in using the left and right openings as storage for my son's car we are redoing.

If there are in fact oem drop in tool containers, that would be nice to find.
Its either that or we make them ourselves because I don't want to dent the exterior of the rear fenders with things that get dropped in.

thoughts?

When I had my white '88, I always kept a small jack, and a bag of basic tools in there, as well as jumper cables, and a quart or 5 of oil, and a gallon of mixed coolant. Had to, mine had the 3.8 and it always leaked oil, LOL

The fuel filler intrudes on the passenger side..not sure I ever kept anything over there.
I also had my trunk full of subs and amps, so I needed every inch of space I could get.

I will look. I had a couple in the garage. if I still have them, they are yours. On both sides, not sure it can work. The driver side has a lot more space than the passenger side does.

Get the mini spare cover for the drivers side and it will double the space.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

Yep, my 85 Turbo Coupe had one.  A plastic drop-in to hold things.

Prior to 87 the spare wasn't in the quarter panel well. in 87 and up it was. probably why no 87-88 car had the liner.

My cougar might. I always thought it was only for cars with a full size spare option.

I had a full size spare with the matching liner cover...and still there was no storage in the well. I did still have the tire shaped cover for the quarter panel though

Both of my 3.8 '88 cars had the mini spare in the "pocket", complete with a cover that was held in place by the big yellow plastic screw thing-a-ma-jiggie.

Only two cars I've ever seen them on...guess the others were lost in the sands of time.
