Vacuum/electrical mess on my strut tower.... September 30, 2014, 12:30:34 PM On the back side of the passenger side strut tower, there's a vacuum device that had an electrical plug to it. Can it all go away? I have no smog stuff on the Sport. Quote Selected

Vacuum/electrical mess on my strut tower.... Reply #4 – September 30, 2014, 07:23:32 PM I just saw this. Thanks a lot. I removed it all, re-routed the mass air wire through the inner fender then to the meter, fabbed a panel that will fit the flat area under the CAI (pics tomorrow)....slowly but surely it's getting cleaned up a bit. There were four vacuum splices with Thermactor system in place. I removed the extra lines and now only have two lines running to the area. One to the EGR solenoid and one to the under dash vacuum line (that line connects right near where the lower part of the passenger inner fender meets the firewall). Quote Selected
Vacuum/electrical mess on my strut tower.... Reply #6 – October 01, 2014, 08:16:57 PM I know the egr/thermactor setup over there, but isnt there that one valve with the black plastic housing and the mesh filter in it???? I thought that thing effected idle? Quote Selected
Vacuum/electrical mess on my strut tower.... Reply #7 – October 01, 2014, 08:42:21 PM We'll see how it runs in the morning. I pulled it all. The vacuum that goes into the cabin is left functional. Quote Selected

I thought that thing effected idle? The solenoid with the filter is the EGR solenoid. Below it are two smaller black solenoids that are for the Thermactor system. If the air pump is gone you can yank the Thermactor solenoids without issue. Quote Selected

Reply #12 – October 03, 2014, 09:23:18 AM Just keep it at WOT....all the time!!!!!!!!Driving behind a guy I know with a carb'd '86 Mustang, 302 Trickflow everything, WOT the exhaust smells like fireworks. I was behind a brand-new Mercedes GLK that got pissed at the guy next to him or something, or they were both pissed, they rocketed off from the light, buncha water blew out of the GLK exhaust, and as they flew away I smelled that same fireworks smell in his wake. Vacuum/electrical mess on my strut tower.... Reply #14 – October 03, 2014, 11:14:11 AM No inspection here in OK so it makes no difference. Once they are past 25 years old in Texas then there is not even a visual or sniffer. Gotta love being south of the Mason-Dixon line and not on one of the tree hugging coastal states.Darren Quote Selected
