We're talking Cadillac here, and yes there is a big difference. Get your facts straight before you trash other people's ideas. What, exactly, defines an engine swap as being "right"? That kind of backwards mentality doesn't befit a hot rodder. Do a little research. For decades, Olds and Caddy motors were the engines of choice to swap in model Ts, deuce coupes, Mercs, and other Fords. Then suddenly the purists came along, who for some messed up reason, feel it's a sin worse than murder to swap different engines in cars. That doesn't make any sense. I get an even bigger laugh out of the guy discouraging dude from putting a 460 in the car because "everyone and his brother has seen a 460 in just about everything". Gee, I wonder why that's such a popular swap? Maybe it's because a mild 460 will blow the tires off in every gear, unlike puny ass lil 302s that have to wind to 6000 RPMs to get any work done and split in half when you start to make decent power with them? You should decide for yourself what you want to run based on what you want and what's good, and not what others are building. I don't understand the belief that your project idea has to be absolutely, positively the most unique thing on the planet in order for it to be worth doing. Before you trash me, I'll have you know that I'm a big fan of Fords and Ford motors. In fact, all I own right now is Fords. I have an 02 GT, a 98 GT convertible, and an 84 notchback that's getting a big, fat Cadillac dropped in it next month. If I didn't have a nicely built Caddy laying around to put in it, I'd just as soon put a 460 in it, a 408 stroker, a turbo'd 351, a hot 302, or a built 2.3 turbo. Doesn't matter to me. A good motor is a good motor, no matter who makes it. Quote Selected
Re: 87 Turbo Coupe Reply #9 – July 08, 2005, 12:30:32 AM woah turbo! im not gonna trash you...yet.... i see your point and yes the 460 is a popular motor as is the 500 caddy, ive seen both punched out..... nice numbers the 500 in a t-bird tho it be original and all, wouldnt work over so hot if you you had a problem and couldnt chase it down and your right, a good motor is a good motor....BTW shiftless - get along with the board elders :nono: like TurboCoupe50 (hi Tom! :D ) Quote Selected

Re: 87 Turbo Coupe Reply #11 – July 08, 2005, 01:38:55 AM Don't let this come off the wrong way but we had someone else come here and in his first post he started talking trash. And he ended up banned. And there is a difference between us and turboford, cougarnuts, FvC... We all try to get along. As for seniority I see 687 other people on here before you. So wait your turn. :DNow back to the original post:I have alwas like the FE Series. Like the 390, 427, and the 428. THey sound good if you get them tuned right. They are also lighter that the 429, 460. If you plan on going in just a straight line I would go with the big block. If you want handleing I would stick with the small block. Quote Selected
Re: 87 Turbo Coupe Reply #12 – July 08, 2005, 02:43:51 AM It wouldn't really bother me if I got banned, I just came here to defend the Caddy. I ain't tryin to start shiznit though. In regards to the FE engine weight, I ain't sure that's the case. The FE is one *heavy* motor. Quote Selected
