Heart Transplant

Hello all!

Wow it's been a long time since I've posted anything!! :hick:

I'm still in the Cougar game with the '87 XR-7 but it's been awhile since anything significant has been performed. For those who do not know my Dad is the 2nd owner on this car and has had it since '97. Over the last 10 years the car has gone through some changes...other then a T/C hood it's been in the drivetrain. First we installed a '89 GT H.O. engine and converted to mass air along with a rebuilt AOD with a B&M hammer shifter, shorty headers and X-pipe and flowmaster 2 chambers. Then came Mustang GT front brakes and 3:73 T/C rear end. The front and rear suspension was rebuilt, new rack, polyurethane bushings, Maximum Motorsports C/C plates and new springs with 1 coil cut, CHE tubular upper and lower control arms and a SVO M/C. Eventually the engine received Aerohead 1.94 /1.60 heads, GT-40 intake and B-303 cam, roller rockers etc. and has been this way for about 3 years.

But, on to bigger and more powerful things, the Cat is getting a long needed heart transplant in the form of a Coast 347 Stroker 10.2 compression with Pro-comp ported and built 2.02 heads and Comp cams XE 292 cam, Comp gold roller rockers with stud girdle, Trick flow street heat intake which was port matched, 75 mm T/B and all the supporting equipment. Lots of polished bright work and powder coating have also gone into this. The AOD has been seriously gone through with a full rebuild with Raybestos blue plate clutches, hardened input shaft, shift kit and a TPI 3800 stall non lock up torque converter...hopefully will last!!
Only in America do we use the word "politics" to describe the process so well: "POLI" in latin meaning "many", "TICS" meaning "bloodsucking creatures".

Sweet. It looks just like the 87 XR-7 I had in high school (the red one in my sig pic). I miss that car :(
