Look what I scored at Harry's U-Pull It!!

Went to Harry's U-Pull it in Hazelton PA and scored this V8 instrument cluster! These are hard to find! I couldn't believe how many 84-88 TBird and Cougars their were. Many V8 ones too.

What all cars can you put that in?  I would like to ditch the digital stuff even though it can easily be converted to read 3 digits I'm not a big fan of it.  What car did you find it in?

I assume 84-88? I know they will fit 87-88. It came out of a 4/88 car.

Far. Its on the other side of the state. I would say roughly 4 hours.

I lucked onto the '88 Sport cluster at a u-pull it for $20. If you can't find the V8 cluster, its easy enough to convert the '87-'88(not the '85-'86 though) Turbo Coupe 4cyl tach to 8 cyl operation. Just used it and and a little backward engineering to to convert the TC tachs(luckly Eric thought it would be a good addition for Cool Cats).

My gem is the 140 mph speedo I found in a TC at another self service yard for $20....

Ive spent many a hour up in that place.  Great bone yard if you ask me.  They use to advertise "u pull it" engines for 50 bux no matter what the engine was.

From Pitts, take the turnpike and hit 81 south for about 6 miles or so. Look for it on the left, their sign was a bunch of cars stacked up like a pole sign. I guess you could take 30 or 80 to save toll.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

Then you have that ugly turbo light as well. I have a TC cluster and I was going to that as you mentioned but having a nice V8 one is better since I dont have to modify anything.

You scored a 140mph one? I bet you shiznit your pants when you saw that!! I also looked in every Grand Marquis, Crown Vic, Fairmont, Tbird and Cougar for that special clock/tripminder and found only one in a 83 C.V. They have one T.C. in there as well. Alot of V8 ones which really surprised me. If you are looking for the motor mounts then that is the place you will find them.

i grabbed a V8 cluster a few years ago for 25 bucks, i actually picked up two, swapped speedo's around for the closer milage one, then sold the other cluster

It's Gumby's fault.

Like I said I have been at many junkyards and every Tbird/Cougar I looked in this is the only one I have seen. Maybe in your area they are common? :dunno: I have seen alot of the full digital dash ones but for some reason I find them only in Cougars. Hmmm.......

theres lots of 87-88 xr7 cougars here with the anolog clster. I think they are v-8's too. Should I pick them up and sell them here? They are usally here in my area. They usally heve anywhere from 25 to 50 t-bird cougars or mark here. Sometimes more. I also didnt pick up a trip computer thingy last time I was there. I am flat broke again. I usally find a trip computer every other time I go.
