Another (minor) project (semi) finished

I finally got tired of having no horn, so I installed my Grant GT wheel today. Now all I have to do to finish the project is to relocate the cruise buttons to the dash so I can have my cruise back

How did you get the horn to work I had the adapter kit and still woldn't work. There just wasn't enough room for everything.

That looks sweet man, and the aluminum gauge plate compliments it well.

Ancient chinese secret, involving a half roll of electrical tape, a hot glue gun, three porcupines, and six tons of Raisin Bran:evilgrin:

Ok, OK, I know that wouldn't work - everyone knows that porcupines are allergic to raisins...;)

Joking apart, I really did use a half roll of electrical tape (as a spacer, I even had to cut slots in it to make clearance for the three bolts) and a glue gun. I also had to use two adapter kits - one from a completely different Grant wheel (for the horn button) and another that supposedly was correct but, as you mentioned, had no provisions for a horn. I glued the wrong horn button to the underside of the right one, and glued the lot to the electrical tape, then glued the electrical tape to the adapter once it was bolted to the car. Truly cobbled together, but it works, and as long as nobody prys the horn button off nobody would ever be able to tell :D

I also had to drill a new hole in the slip ring on the adapter and re-solder the horn wire

Repairing a lock cylinder that is frozen or sans keys requires a drill, gumption, and a midget on a tricycle.

Forgot to put on intake hose when starting the car, sucked neighbors cat into intake.

You've got a different wheel the one that uses five bolts to hold it to the adapter (mine uses three) - in fact, if I'd had that wheel I could've bolted mine right up too 'cuz that's the type of adapter I had (small horn button). I glued the small horn button to the big horn button to make it work :hick:

Exact same wheel I used with my '86 GS. I had no problems mounting it, either...

Lookin' good.
