Alternator wiring May 12, 2014, 01:11:03 PM Quick question I can't seem to get a stwaight answer on. No both of the orang /black wires run into eachother on the alternator harness. I need to replace a harness and one wire either fell out or was pulled out of the connector and just taped up. And the new pigtail had 3 wires. Don't wsnt to fry anything. Any input would be great Quote Selected
Alternator wiring Reply #1 – May 12, 2014, 03:14:02 PM Yes the two BK/O wires are tied together. They use two wires at the connector to split the current load between two connectors terminals. This prevents the connector from overheating. The third wire W/BK goes to the "S" terminal on the regulator. Quote Selected
Alternator wiring Reply #2 – May 12, 2014, 04:21:11 PM I posted the stock 2G alternator that was original equipment for the 88 5.0.If it doesn't match what you have, the alternator has been upgraded to a newer alternator. If so give us a pic and or describe what you have. Quote Selected
Alternator wiring Reply #3 – May 12, 2014, 05:29:15 PM Was this car originally a 2.3L Turbo Coupe? If so, they used a different alternator. Quote Selected
