Wish me luck.....

After about 18 months I'm finally dropping the car off for paintthis afternoon to rectify the defects from the LAST paintjob.

Pensive apprehension abounds.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

I'm more scared of the road.  I dropped it off.  The side road at the collision place wasn't plowed.....That little 1/2" of snow made it slippery over there.  Every stop necessitated a shift into neutral..... That and the idle was cranky as all get out.....These cars were great in the cold when stock.  This one don't like anything below freezing.  Everything I've done to this car has geared it towards running better in warmer weather.  Bigger rad, tranny cooler, lower temp thermostat, fan, etc...

Been there. I hate leaving my car anywhere, especially a body shop. When I had my XR-7 painted I was worried, but it turned out great.

I was more fearful of having the car slide into another car while I was parking.  It almost happened.  They apparently never really plowed too well over there and with all the back-to-back-to-back snowstorms, there's just enough ice under that snow.  I watched a 3 axle tow-truck go sideways on light throttle on the same stretch of road.

My Thunderbird will go sideways at 40mph in the rain with any sort of aggressive throttle. Scares the bejesus out of me so I don't drive it in the rain. I can only imagine how scary it would be in the snow. Probably like your Cougar, since we have similar engine/transmission combos.

Good luck with the paint job. Hopefully they do it right this time.

Etch primed.  The trunk may be salvage-able It was a couple of large fish eye spots.  He's gonna wheel it and clear it.

Didn't the roof have some sort of bondo/filler issue?

And the door and the rear quarter.  The door molding didn't lay down right either which was frustrating as it was a perfect piece I bought off a member here.  It was FLAWLESS!

Yes, Paul will be driving that car wrapped in plastic from now on to protect the beautiful finish underneath.  He will remove it once home and the car is in the garage to admire the shine, then replace each time he takes her out.....  :-)
