New to the fourm just wanted to say hello

Hello everybody i have been lurking on here ever since i got my car and never really had the courage to say hi, but here i am now. My name is Dylan and the car i drive is a 1988 Mercury Cougar Bluemax edition the thing that is weird with this car is that it came from the factory red and i have the original dealer sticker from the window to prove it i bought it about a year ago with 76,000 miles on the 3.8 and now it has about 91,000 miles but i commute with it alot and it is my daily driver and my first car. i have done some modifications to it on the outside and in but i have all of the original parts to make it look like it did 26 years ago the mods are nothing that cant be undone. well enough of my blabbering here is a picture i took of the car at the lake about 2 weeks ago :

These are really great cars, loads of potential, but sadly, they take and need a very special, dedicated owner. Parts are not accessible like they are for Mustangs. Engine, transmissions, suspension....all pretty easy to do, but parts that are actually Thunderbird specific are getting hard to find. I, luckily, enjoy a challenge, and the fun in owning a car that you won't see everywhere, so, it works for me. Some parts, like the shifter cable on the Sport, are SUPER hard to find. They are specific to the Thunderbird, and floor shifted 5.0 Cougar....nothing else, period. Good luck with the car, and you have a great support group here on this forum.

Thanks everyone and yea i love these cars my mom had a 87 cougar and i fell in love with it when she first brought it home sadly when she passed i got the car and it got so bad that it had to be put down if you know what i mean. but i lucked out by grabbing a boatload of good parts from it beforehand so it worked out. and vinnie i know what you mean finding the simplest part for these cars can be a nightmare
