Job, finally a start date. June 27, 2005, 08:58:47 AM I start with http://www.mantech.com/ on the 12th of july. Im going to be doing something close to what i was doing during a short stay i had in dam neck va. The job is Project Manager Close Combat Mine Detecting Systems and deals with fixing broken stuff, GPS guided stuff, finding and breaking stuff on purpose, some ground eqpt and avionics stuff, some mechanical, electrical, pneumatice and hydraulic stuff and some other whatnots depending on company needs. The original location was Balad Iraq but now has changed to bagdad.Work will be 12 hour days, seven days a week. I'll be gone for 6 months, come home for three weeks then go back for another 5 months. they call this thier "bend over and take it up the @@@ with no lube tour". No one takes these jobs so in order to cycle through the company as a long term employee, you gotta play thier game and take whats given to you till your no longer a green pea. They called me a year ago about this job and the wife drove it in the ground. Its a real mystery as to how i was contacted and the means in which they got my number. Its almost spooky how this all went down cause for some odd reason, its like they knew some things about me in advance. My background check revealed that i was adopted and caused a stir when i said i never went by any other name. The state of KY had "sealed" adoptions from 1972 till 1974 so all that should have been a non issue. I have a lot to do and a heavy burden to lay on my oldest boy. Mason might be 12 but you would think he's an adult stuck in a kids body. I have a lot to pass down to him before i go like the how to's on the house convering it in the winter ect. I understand that ill have access to the Inet so i may be on here once in a while, maybe not. I might just focus on work and my health for a year then come back with my old attitude vs the one i have now which sux.I really wanted to transition into the biomed field but its not working and its getting bad with Nafta and the newly approved Cafta outsourcing. The next year and a half to two years is going to be very interesting (vomits now) with Cafta now in the mix. Quote Selected
Re: Job, finally a start date. Reply #1 – June 27, 2005, 09:01:32 AM Being away for that long IS tough. Look at it this way though. You'll have cash comin in and if I'm not mistaken it IS tax free, correct? Quote Selected
Re: Job, finally a start date. Reply #2 – June 27, 2005, 09:05:28 AM yeah, i had to fill out a form number which i forgot but it makes me tax exempt. Im going to dabble into this a little deeper when i get to civilian boot camp and find out if i can have social secuity taken out. Id hate to have this income not recorded. Currently they base your social security on your "BEST FOUR" years of working.its going to be like a hundered and thirty nine k after wages, bonus(s) and hazard pay ect. Quote Selected

Re: Job, finally a start date. Reply #6 – June 27, 2005, 09:23:14 AM no self defense weapons... ive already looked into it. However,,,, i have permission to bring my Flair pen (about as big as a sharpie). The flair pen i have from my old jump suit has a center fire pin. Ive modified it several years ago to take .38 and good for close range like within 20feet. Im still iffy about bringing it cause its breaking thier rules. Quote Selected

Re: Job, finally a start date. Reply #12 – June 27, 2005, 08:44:12 PM Cangrats!! I would say if the pen breaks the rules leave it home. Besides by the time you needed that thing it prob. wouldn't help you much anyways. Thanks for your help thus far and Good Luck with your new job. Quote Selected
