What motor mounts work with a 86 thunderbird for a 5.0?:D Thanks to anyone who responds

they are specific to 86-88 cougars/tbirds.

chuck w makes after market mounts.

Mustang mounts are different...unless you change the K-Member. It would be MUCH easier to swap the mounts. Either the cushions (can be found at Autozone), or buy the ChuckW mounts, call it a day, and never need new ones.

just get the chuckw ones. I'm about to swap mine again. 3rd time this year, and 4th since I bought the.car last November. I am really sick of swappingbthem, so im gonna try to get some money together this winter and swap the chuck mounts in and hopefully never have anymore problems.

I would definately recommend the Chuck mounts.  I had them on my 2.3Turbo,  nice pieces.

I have a brand new set of Chucks Mounts that were never used I would be willing to let go for $150 Shipped I also have a set of used stock 5.0 mounts that I would sell for $50

wanna quickly identify a sefi 5.0 cougar bird at the junkyard? look for a dent in the middle front of the hood. its from the ac bracket hitting the hood when the mounts let go.

the only thing i had trouble with is the dead nuts engineering on the mounting.

there is absolutly no wiggle room when you pass the bolt through the mount and line up to the motor.

we had to set the mounts in the bay and then drop the motor down on top of chucks mounts,, it was nothing short of a mother f'er to get the second bolt in on each one.

I also wish the bolt heads had a wide shoulder like head bolts,, too much hardware to track, a simple bolt with shoulder and lock washer would be fine.

great mounts, great design, great money spent,, i would do it again 10 more times if i had the demand.

so yes,, go to chuck mounts,, or .... i may have a set coming up for sale that came off my son's bird.

we will resto my white coug for my younger son Chance and he might as well have chuck mounts to.

I've been talked into it. I crawled under the tbird today and checked the motor mounts. I again broke 2 bolts off inside of the block. guess the stock setup really can't handle the torque multiplication of the t-5 and aggressive driving. my aod rubber mount is also shot. if I take off normally, the shifter moves 2" and if I nail it from a stop slipping the clutch to keep from tire spin, it actually touches the shifter to the otherside of the shifter trim.

I'm really tempted to go with a stang k member and solid mounts, or even better, a motor plate.

How do you keep breaking the stock mounts? I've got the stock brackets with the rubber isolator from O'Rielly Auto Parts and I've yet to break one. My cars got a 2800 stall converter, 3.73 gears, 180-200 more HP than you car and I launch it at the track. You must really be beating the hell out of your car :burnout:.
